October 15, the South China Sea Lufeng 12-3 oil field one-time production success for half a month, the output of the oil flow to complete the relevant processes, a steady flow of oil into the storage and unloading device - "Ocean Oil 123", all parameters remain normal. HISCO Dancing Steel Company developed and produced 170mm thick ultra-high technical requirements of offshore steel to replace imports, used in the oil field floating oil storage vessel key parts of the manufacturing, for the global deep water equipment construction provides a "Chinese program".
The Group insists on strengthening and optimizing steel materials, and vigorously cultivates the first, only and import-substituting products in the industry. Dancing Steel closely follow the group's deployment, comprehensively promote technological upgrading, accelerate the core technology breakthroughs, to create more "singles champion" products. Ultra-high technical requirements of offshore steel because it must withstand the impact of the ocean wind and waves, as well as the impact of the unpredictable marine environment, in terms of performance requirements are very demanding. Previously, the maximum thickness of the steel standard is 150mm. for the oil storage ship in the deep sea environment using the actual and special needs of customers, danish steel research and sales staff and customers in-depth communication, the key parts of the steel for "high-end customization". In the process of research and development, WISCO integrated advantageous technical resources, set up a special technical research team, research to determine the best process route and technical parameters, in one fell swoop to overcome the low-temperature toughness, strain aging is difficult to ensure that the world's technical problems, to meet the customer's differentiated needs. In order to get the steel market "access key" as soon as possible, WISCO science and technology personnel have also conducted technical docking with well-known classification societies, and actively provide test panels and corresponding information to ensure that the steel successfully passed the ABS Classification Society, China Shipbuilding Seventy-Second and Fifth Research Institute of the post-welding performance certification, and the welding evaluation time by the conventional 90 days shortened to 30 days.
After careful production and intense construction, on September 25th, CNOOC announced that the Lufeng 12-3 oil field, located in the waters of the Pearl River Estuary Basin in China, was officially put into production. Upon commissioning, the field will be able to provide a stable energy supply to the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area, and help the local economy to develop in a high quality manner.

Wugang Company’s project, “Development and Application of Key Technologies for High-Strength, Tough, Extra-Thick Steel Plates for Marine Equipment,” has been awarded the Special Prize of the 2026 Metallurgical Science and Technology Award.

Recently, the results of the 2026 Metallurgical Science and Technology Awards were announced. The project “Development and Application of Key Technologies for High-Strength, Tough, Extra-Thick Steel Plates for Marine Equipment,” jointly submitted by Wugang Company and Northeastern University, was awarded the Grand Prize, marking a major breakthrough for China in the field of critical materials for marine engineering. After ten years of intensive research and sustained efforts, the project has successfully overcome the challenges in producing high-strength, tough, extra-thick steel plates—materials essential for building such national strategic assets as ultra-large deepwater drilling platforms, massive wind‑farm installation vessels, and 10,000‑meter‑class submersibles.
