On the morning of June 5, Lu Jiangguang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Wugang Company, led a delegation to visit a key client in the high-end offshore engineering and clean energy sectors. The two sides held an in-depth discussion on topics including the secure supply of new materials, technological collaboration, and joint project development. Long Jie, Deputy General Manager of Wugang Company, accompanied the visit, while relevant heads from the Marketing Management Department, Sales Department, and Science & Technology Department also participated in the exchange.

The client’s senior leadership extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Lu Jiangguang, commended the longstanding, stable partnership between the two sides, and expressed high regard for Wugang Company’s strong brand reputation. They praised Wugang’s premium‑grade products for their critical role in ensuring the successful implementation of numerous key offshore engineering and wind‑power projects. In light of new business initiatives—such as the construction of high‑end offshore engineering modules and the building of large vessels—and future development plans, the client set forth more stringent, finely tuned standardization requirements for Wugang in areas including customized product R&D, reliable mass‑production supply, and on‑site technical support. They also expressed the hope that both parties will continue to deepen technological collaboration, broaden the scope of cooperation, expand procurement volumes, and elevate their partnership to an even higher level.

Lu Jiangguang expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the customer for the trust and support they have extended to Wugang over many years. He noted that Wugang has been steadily advancing the iterative upgrading of its production-line equipment, optimizing its manufacturing processes for specialty steel plates, and continuously enhancing its capabilities in the R&D and production of high-end steel plates as well as extra-wide and extra-thick steel plates, thereby precisely meeting the stringent steel‑use requirements of high‑end equipment sectors such as offshore engineering, wind power, and shipbuilding. He emphasized that Wugang remains firmly committed to a customer‑centric approach, offering integrated services that encompass customized steel‑grade development, end-to-end technical support, and efficient, timely supply and delivery, all aimed at fully satisfying customers’ steel needs. Looking ahead, Wugang will continue to refine its service‑guarantee system, leveraging its technological expertise and production capacity to align closely with customers’ new projects and emerging requirements. By benchmarking against clients’ latest collaboration standards, the company will address existing gaps, resolve challenges in project alignment, and lay a solid foundation for deepening and expanding partnerships.

This visit and exchange have further strengthened mutual trust and understanding between the two sides. Taking this symposium as an opportunity, both parties will deepen technological collaboration, share resources, and co‑develop projects, continuously broadening the scope and elevating the level of cooperation to achieve complementary advantages across the industrial chain and win‑win outcomes, thereby jointly driving the high‑quality development of the clean energy and high‑end offshore engineering equipment sectors.

Wugang Company’s project, “Development and Application of Key Technologies for High-Strength, Tough, Extra-Thick Steel Plates for Marine Equipment,” has been awarded the Special Prize of the 2026 Metallurgical Science and Technology Award.

Recently, the results of the 2026 Metallurgical Science and Technology Awards were announced. The project “Development and Application of Key Technologies for High-Strength, Tough, Extra-Thick Steel Plates for Marine Equipment,” jointly submitted by Wugang Company and Northeastern University, was awarded the Grand Prize, marking a major breakthrough for China in the field of critical materials for marine engineering. After ten years of intensive research and sustained efforts, the project has successfully overcome the challenges in producing high-strength, tough, extra-thick steel plates—materials essential for building such national strategic assets as ultra-large deepwater drilling platforms, massive wind‑farm installation vessels, and 10,000‑meter‑class submersibles.
