On the morning of May 19, Lu Jiangguang, Party Secretary and Chairman of Wugang Company under HBIS Group, led a delegation to visit a key domestic client in the coal‑chemical industry. The two sides held an in-depth symposium to discuss ways to deepen supply‑chain collaboration, jointly develop cutting‑edge technologies, provide supporting high‑end materials, and expand market access for new projects. Long Jie, Deputy General Manager of Wugang Company, accompanied the visit, while relevant heads from the Marketing Management Department, the Production and Manufacturing Department, the Sales Department, and the Science and Technology Department also attended the meeting.

Senior executives of the client extended a warm welcome to Lu Jiangguang and his delegation, providing a detailed overview of the company’s development. They highly commended Wugang’s superior product quality, strong brand reputation, and its long-standing record of high‑quality, efficient collaborative services. The executive noted that the two sides enjoy a solid foundation of cooperation and have achieved fruitful results. Wugang’s R&D‑driven, specialized steel plates—featuring hydrogen resistance, heat resistance, and exceptional strength and toughness—have enabled the domestic substitution of critical materials in the coal‑chemical industry, thereby ensuring the successful implementation of numerous national flagship coal‑chemical projects. He expressed anticipation that the two parties will continue to deepen technological synergy and project collaboration, jointly opening up new avenues for industrial development.

Lu Jiangguang expressed his gratitude to the client for the long-standing trust and support extended to Wugang Company. He noted that over the years, the two parties have engaged in deep collaboration and joint research, jointly earning prestigious awards such as the National Science and Technology Progress Award and provincial/ministerial-level science and technology progress honors, while successfully overcoming numerous technical challenges in high-end materials for the coal‑chemical industry. At present, Wugang is steadily advancing the upgrading and transformation of its production lines and optimizing its process technologies, with a strong focus on developing and manufacturing core products—including high‑end wide and thick plates, specialized weathering steels, and hydrogen‑resistant steels—while continuously enhancing its customized, full‑cycle customer service system. Looking ahead, Wugang will remain committed to meeting the demands of high‑end, green development in the energy and chemical industries, strengthening its capabilities in technological innovation, quality control, and supply‑chain adaptability, and comprehensively elevating its service‑support standards to provide customers with higher‑quality, more reliable material solutions for their key project construction.

This round of visits and symposiums has effectively deepened mutual cooperation and trust between the two parties, while streamlining a mechanism for regular communication. Moving forward, both sides will remain firmly aligned with national energy security and the “dual carbon” development strategy, continuing to strengthen joint technological research, co‑develop projects, and jointly expand market opportunities. They will focus on key areas such as high‑end specialty steels for coal chemical applications and low‑carbon new materials, working in concert to establish a benchmark for synergistic development between steel enterprises and engineering design firms, thereby contributing to the high‑quality growth of China’s domestic energy‑chemical industry chain.

Wugang Company’s project, “Development and Application of Key Technologies for High-Strength, Tough, Extra-Thick Steel Plates for Marine Equipment,” has been awarded the Special Prize of the 2026 Metallurgical Science and Technology Award.

Recently, the results of the 2026 Metallurgical Science and Technology Awards were announced. The project “Development and Application of Key Technologies for High-Strength, Tough, Extra-Thick Steel Plates for Marine Equipment,” jointly submitted by Wugang Company and Northeastern University, was awarded the Grand Prize, marking a major breakthrough for China in the field of critical materials for marine engineering. After ten years of intensive research and sustained efforts, the project has successfully overcome the challenges in producing high-strength, tough, extra-thick steel plates—materials essential for building such national strategic assets as ultra-large deepwater drilling platforms, massive wind‑farm installation vessels, and 10,000‑meter‑class submersibles.
